Episcopal See of the Diocese of Eichstätt

The episcopal see of the diocese of Eichstätt is a body governed by public law and a public legal person of canon law.

The episcopal see promotes ecclesiastical duties with special consideration for the care of liturgy/prayer services, apostolate and caritas, theological science and theological education, ecumene, and ecclesiastical art and culture, which the bishop has been entrusted with. The episcopal see grants the bishop a residence for the duration of his tenure of office. Other responsibilities include the maintenance of the bishop's residence. This is defined in the statute of the episcopal see, which was put into effect by bishop Gregor Maria Hanke on 23rd of October 2017.

The asset management council consists of the bishop of Eichstätt or a proxy nominated by the bishop as its chairman and five honorary members, who are nominated by the bishop of Eichstätt for a tenure of five years and who should be very experienced in matters of economics and secular law. The chairman has no voting right.

According to the statute the asset management council decides on the ratification of the budget and the acknowledgement of the annual financial statement. Approval by the asset management council is also required for any purchases or sales of real estate as well as the purchase or sale of highly valuable movable assets - according to the statute.
