| The diocese Eichstaett is one of the smaller dioceses of the 27 existing in Germany. Four Bavarian governmental districts meet in the area of the diocese Eichstaett: Oberbayern, Schwaben, Mittelfranken and Oberpfalz. |
| History of the Diocese |
| The diocese exists for more than 1250 years. Its first bishop was Willibald (†787). |

| Going on a pilgrimage has become fashionable again in the diocese Eichstaett nowadays. In community of other like-minded persons or alone many christians start marching to the holy places.
